2005 Year-end Review
The year 2005 has flown past. We have all witnessed such turmoil around the world with violence and natural disaster. We keep our hopes bouyed by appreciating all the love of friends and family like yourselves, and with stiff doses of the Daily Show on a regular basis.
We started the year with another cruise from Galveston to Mexico. In March, Jen went to Salt Lake City to complete certfication training to teach Music Together. Dave and Broch came along for a pleasure trip. Besides ski lessons for Broch, one day was dubbed, “Big Equipment Day” in and around Salt Lake City exploring mining sites, train yards and fire departments. On returning to Austin, Jen began teaching a couple days a week. In April, Dave again spoke at the AdTech in San Francisco. This time Jen and Broch were along for the ride, enojying the sights of the city and visiting friends. At the end of May, Broch and a jungle gym on a playground had a little misunderstanding and he broke his leg. He was a real trooper about the whole thing, never complaining and actually getting a kick out of using crutches.
The summer brought the Formula One Grand Prix season again. So we headed up to Montreal, rented a wonderful little house and enjoyed a ten days of races, city adventures and visiting with our Canadian friends. In July we spent a week at the beach house on Cape Ann (Massachusetts) with friends again - a trip we look forward to every year. Then, when Broch finally got his cast off at the end of the summer, we took Broch to the beach in Corpus Christi so that he could have a little unimpeded time in the sand.
In the fall, Jen had the rare opportunity to attend an inspiring 3-day teaching with the Dalai Lama in Tucson, Arizona. We all took a trip out to Florida for John and Monica Evans’ wedding - it was a great family affair. Dave left GSD&M to again pursue his consulting career, which is how he got to GSD&M in the first place. He continues to be an authority in the newly emerging area of social media networks, and took 3 different trips to NYC for various speaking engagements. Jen and Broch accompanied him on one trip. After 5 days spent riding subways, exploring Grand Central, touring the USS Intrepid, visiting the MOMA and talking to every NY firefighters and policeman we came across, Broch was in love with city life. So far his career plans include: race car driver, fighter pilot and firefighter. Don’t tell his future life insurance agent…
All the best to you, your family and friends. Much love, The Evans Family
